Revealed on September 14, 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2016 Bentley Bentayga is the world’s first ultra-luxury SUV.

Described by Bentley as “the fastest, most luxurious, and most exclusive SUV in the world,” this sleek vehicle is not your typical rugged SUV. It does, however, outperform others in terms of power.

Validating that claim, it boasts a mighty all-new 12-cylinder W12 engine, 600bhp and 900NM of torque. With a push button start, the Bentayga will jump from 0 to 60mph in just 4.0 seconds and tops out at 187mph.

Bentayga Features Elegance & High-End Vehicle Technology

The vehicle boasts a signature winged dashboard with upper and lower wings, as well as diamond quilted leather seats. It includes precise knurling around the drive selector and gear lever, featuring eight driving modes: sport, Bentley, comfort, and custom, plus four off-roading modes.

As one of the top in its class for innovative technologies, the Bentley Bentayga features traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, self-parking technology, on-board Wi-Fi, and an optional Bentley-branded 10.2 inch Android tablet. The vehicle also includes the following:

• Air suspension system with four ride heights
• Exterior lights combine technology with knurled beveling around the inside

• Eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with night vision and head-up display

What Does ‘Bentayga’ Mean?

The name ‘Bentayga’ is designed to conjure up automotive luxury and outstanding performance taking the Bentley experience to a wide variety of climates and terrains. The name itself is a combination of the world’s largest snow forest (known as Taiga) which surrounds the entire Northern Hemisphere and a rugged peak in the Canary Islands called the Roque Bentayga.

What is the Outlook for the Bentley Bentayga?

Bentley expects to sell 3,000 to 4,000 SUVs per year. Top markets for the Bentayga are expected to be America and China — around 50 percent of sales — with Russia and the Middle East coming in at second. The Bentayga is currently the most expensive luxury SUV available in the world with a starting price tag of $300,000.
