Q. How is my vehicle transported?
Your vehicle will be transported in a fully enclosed, air ride NASCAR style custom vehicle trailer with a hydraulic Penske Tail Gate. All vehicles are lifted into the trailer and are never ramp loaded. Our transporters are state of the art with satellite GPS tracking and a cutting edge security system. All trailers and tractors are company owned and maintained and all drivers work directly for TFX International. Our drivers are trained professionals and will take good care of your vehicle whether it is a small economy car or a priceless exotic. We are trained and equipped to handle any and all vehicle transport scenarios.
Q. Will my vehicle be driven?
We only need to drive your car on to our hydraulic tailgate and into the trailer.
Q. I need to move my vehicle from one US State to another, can TFX do this for me?
No, US Immigration law prohibits TFX from picking up and delivering the same vehicle inside the USA.
Q. Is my vehicle insured during transit?
TFX International covers each vehicle for the actual cash value up to $250,000.00 CDN. Additional coverage is available on request – please ask us for a quote.
Q. Do I have to deliver/pick up my car at a terminal?
TFX International offers door to door service. Your vehicle can be picked up/delivered to your home or office (subject to accessibility and local laws). This is part of our service, no extra charge is involved, please be location specific when asking for a quote.
Q. Can my vehicle be shipped by open carrier?
No, TFX only has fully enclosed hard side trailers with hydraulically operated lift gate system.
Q. How far in advance do I have to schedule the transport of my vehicle?
You should schedule your move as soon as possible to ensure the timing meets your needs. Two to three weeks in advance is ideal however we can work with shorter lead times.

Q. My vehicle is very low and has special modifications. Can you ship this kind of car?
Yes. TFX uses a system of hydraulic tailgate lift trailers which are specially designed to transport very low vehicles. We do not ramp load which causes damage to the undercarriage and spoilers. Please advise us at the time of booking of any special requirements.
Q. My vehicle does not run – are you still able to transport it?
We can still transport your vehicle providing that the vehicle steers, rolls and the car can be winched in a straight line. Please let us know if the vehicle is inoperable when you request a quotation. There will be an additional fee for this service.
Q. I am relocating from the US to Canada (or vice versa) can you help me with the appropriate paperwork?
We will be more than happy to advise you on the correct customs procedures whether you’re moving North or South of the border.
Q. Do you guarantee pick up and/or delivery dates and times?
We try our best to accommodate your schedule and the vast majority of our shipments are delivered on time. However, due to a variety of situations that may arise en route, (adverse weather/road conditions, delays at the border and/or at another pick up or delivery) we can’t guarantee specific dates and times. We do our best to minimize any inconvenience, however the safe transport and delivery of your vehicle is our ultimate consideration. If you require a date specific pickup or delivery this can be accommodated.
Q. Can I include personal items in my car?
Yes, we allow approximately 100 LBS of personal belongings in each vehicle. We would ask that you put all items in the trunk space. You will have to provide us with a list of those items for customs purposes. Any vehicle that will be crossing the border may be subject to inspection by US or Canadian customs officials. Please do not include any kind of medications, prescription or non prescription, vitamins, food products, radar detectors, weapons, firearms, plants, animals, alcohol or tobacco. These items are strictly prohibited from crossing the border. TFX International endeavours to deliver your vehicle in a timely manner however delays may occur and TFX does not guarantee delivery times. Therefore we ask that you avoid packing time-sensitive personal items in your vehicle. Please note that we fully insure your vehicle while it is in our care however, personal items included in the vehicle are placed there at the owners risk – they are not covered by our insurance as we have no way of checking what has been shipped in the vehicle. TFX does not accept responsibility or liability for any articles left in your vehicle. We do not recommend packing breakable or valuable items.
Q. Do I have to be present when you pick up and/or deliver my vehicle?
Yes, we require either you or a previously designated agent to sign the vehicle into our care and accept delivery at it’s destination.
Q. Is there anything I should do to prepare my vehicle for transport?
Please ensure that all items in the car are firmly secured. When our driver arrives at the pick up point, he will ask you to be present during a detailed inspection of your vehicle. In order to assess the condition of your automobile we ask that you wash the exterior just prior to pick up. If we are unable to complete our survey due to dirt/snow/ice on the vehicle, you will be asked to sign a waiver releasing us from any responsibility for the condition at delivery. Secure any loose items in your vehicle. Please make sure your vehicle has been properly winterized and that the antifreeze is sufficiently rated to protect it from the cold weather. We only require a ¼ tank of fuel for shipping. Do not overfill your vehicle.
Q. Do you offer storage?
Yes. TFX has a secure heated warehouse located in Etobicoke, Ontario minutes from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. We offer both long and short term storage. Please contact the office for rate information.
Q. What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept Wire Transfers, Bank Drafts, Cashiers cheques, Money orders or Cash. Full payment for all transport charges, customs broker and/or bond fees must be received prior to delivery of your vehicle. We can not accept personal or company cheques. Contact the office for wire transfer instructions.
