This competition and display of classic cars has taken place five years running on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay. It’s a celebration of classic cars and trucks from every corner of history. A History Lesson

The Concours d’Elegance is a term dating back to seventeenth-century French society. It’s an event that began as a simple parade of horse-drawn carriages through the parks of France. Throughout the years, it’s since been adapted as a competition and display of classic cars from across the globe. For the last six years, the Cobble Beach Golf Resort community has hosted its own version of the event on the 18^th fairway of its bayside course.

What is the Concours d’Elegance today?

Even the most avid car aficionado may not have heard of an event like the Concours d’Elegance. For those of you that haven’t, let’s break it down.

A Concours d’Elegance is not like most other car shows. In fact, it’s not like any other car show at all! Not just anyone can show up and register their name for a day of sunshine and car gazing. The Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance is catered for the most part to people who own cars that they wish to display. It exclusively features cars from before 1974 (except those competing in the exotic/supercar or race classes) that are in exquisite condition. Some of these cars are often in better shape than originals just coming off the production line.

The event lasts for two days over the course of a weekend, allowing time for judges to make their decisions and for participants to walk about the grounds and take in all the beautiful sights. Once you’ve had your fill of the Councours, Cobble Beach also boasts an acclaimed golf course, relaxing spas and delicious fare at local restaurants sure to be the cherry on top of an elegant classic car celebration. Truly a one of a kind experience! This year’s Concours D’Elegance runs on September 15-16^th, 2018.

Though there is no cost to enter a vehicle for display, charitable donations to the Sunnybrook Foundation are graciously accepted. This year, proceeds will help build Sunnybrook’s Garry Hurvitz Brain Sciences Centre.
